What each text case does

UPPERCASE

Every letter becomes a capital. Use it for short labels, acronyms and warnings. Need the opposite? See the uppercase to lowercase converter.

lowercase

Every letter becomes a small letter — the fastest fix for text typed with Caps Lock on.

Sentence case

Only the first letter of each sentence is capitalized, plus the word “I” in English. It's how normal prose looks. Learn more on the sentence case converter page.

Title Case

Main words get a capital; short words like a, the, and, of and in stay lowercase unless they start or end the title. Details on the title case converter.

Capitalized Case

Every single word starts with a capital, including small words. See capitalize words.

Alternating, inverse and toggle case

Three different playful styles that are often confused. Alternating case switches every letter, inverse case flips the existing case, and toggle case lowercases only the first letter of each word. Compare them on the alternating case converter.

camelCase, snake_case, kebab-case and more

Six programming styles for variable names, file names, URLs and constants. They remove spaces and punctuation and join the words. See the camelCase converter, snake_case converter and kebab-case converter.

What makes this converter different

  • Private: conversion runs in your browser. Your text isn't uploaded, logged or stored.
  • Accurate title case: follows common style-guide rules for small words, first and last words, colons and hyphenated words.
  • Language-aware: English, Spanish, Portuguese and German rules, with correct handling of accented letters such as é, ñ, ç and ü.
  • Keeps acronyms: NASA, USA or HTML stay capitalized in sentence, title and capitalized case (you can switch this off).
  • Live counts: characters, words and lines update as you type.
  • Works everywhere: phones, tablets and desktops, fully usable with a keyboard and screen readers.

Frequently asked questions

Is this case converter free?

Yes. Every feature is free to use, with no account, no limits on normal use and no watermark.

Is my text saved or sent anywhere?

No. The conversion happens entirely in your web browser using JavaScript. Your text is never uploaded to a server, logged or saved — closing the tab removes it.

What's the difference between sentence case and title case?

Sentence case capitalizes only the first word of each sentence (and proper nouns, which you may need to fix by hand). Title case capitalizes most words and keeps short words like “and” or “of” lowercase. Read the full sentence case vs. title case guide.

Are alternating, inverse and toggle case the same thing?

No. Alternating case switches letters one by one (hElLo), inverse case flips whatever case each letter already has (Hello → hELLO), and toggle case makes each word's first letter small and the rest capital (hELLO wORLD).

Does it work with accents and other languages?

Yes. Accented and non-English letters are converted correctly, and you can choose English, Spanish, Portuguese or German rules. One limitation: no automatic tool can know which words are names or, in German, nouns — sentence case lowercases them, so check those by hand.

Will it keep my line breaks and spacing?

Yes. Only letters change. Line breaks, multiple spaces, tabs, numbers, punctuation and emoji stay exactly where they were.
