Options explained
Match case
Off by default, so apple also finds Apple and APPLE. Turn it on when capital letters matter, for example to change US without touching us.
Whole words only
Finds the word on its own, not inside longer words. With this on, replacing cat changes “cat” but leaves “category” and “concatenate” alone. It works with accented letters too.
Use regex
Turns the Find box into a regular expression for pattern-based edits. Use $1, $2 in Replace with to reuse captured groups. ^ and $ match the start and end of every line.
Handy examples
| Task | Find | Replace with | Option |
|---|---|---|---|
| Change a name everywhere | John | Sam | Whole words only |
| Delete a word | very | (leave empty) | — |
| Put each item on its own line | , | \n | — |
| Join lines with commas | \n | , | Use regex |
| Remove blank lines | \n{2,} | \n | Use regex |
| Turn double spaces into one | {2,} | | Use regex |
| Add a dash before every line | ^ | - | Use regex |
| Change 2026-11-01 to 01/11/2026 | (\d{4})-(\d{2})-(\d{2}) | $3/$2/$1 | Use regex |
Fix the capitals too
Replacing words is often only half the job. After cleaning up your text, paste the result into the case converter to switch it to Sentence case, Title Case or lowercase in one click.
Frequently asked questions
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. The search and replace run in your browser on your own device. Your text is never sent to a server or saved.
How do I delete a word from my text?
Type the word in Find and leave Replace with empty. Every match is removed. Add the space after the word to avoid leaving double spaces.
How do I add or remove line breaks?
Type \n in Replace with to insert a line break. To find line breaks, turn on Use regex and type \n in Find.
Is there a limit on text length?
There is no fixed limit. Long texts are processed in your browser, so very large files (several megabytes) may take a moment on older phones.
Which regular expressions are supported?
Standard JavaScript regular expressions, such as \d, \s, [a-z], +, * and groups ( ). Reuse groups with $1, $2 and the whole match with $&.
