How to remove line breaks
- Paste your text into the Your text box.
- Choose Keep paragraphs to join the lines inside each paragraph, or Remove all line breaks to make one block of text.
- Pick what replaces each line break: A space (the usual choice), Nothing or A comma.
- Click Copy result and paste the clean text where you need it.
Why text from a PDF has line breaks
PDFs store text line by line, exactly as it is laid out on the page. When you copy it, every line ends with a hard line break, so sentences break in odd places when you paste them into Word, Google Docs, an email or a form. The same happens with old emails and some websites.
Keep paragraphs fixes this: single line breaks become spaces, but the blank lines between paragraphs stay, so your text keeps its structure.
Options explained
- Keep paragraphs: joins lines inside each paragraph and keeps a blank line between paragraphs. Best for PDFs and emails.
- Remove all line breaks: turns everything into one paragraph. Useful for forms, captions and spreadsheet cells.
- Replace with a comma: turns a list with one item per line into
apples, pears, plums. - Remove extra spaces: trims spaces at the start and end of lines and turns double spaces into one.
- Join words split by a hyphen: “exam-” at the end of one line and “ple” on the next become “example”. Leave it off if your text has real hyphenated words like “well-known” at line ends.

Frequently asked questions
How do I remove line breaks in Word?
In Word, open Replace (Ctrl + H), type ^p in Find and a space in Replace, then click Replace All. This also removes the breaks between paragraphs, so the Keep paragraphs option here is often quicker.
Will it remove the spaces between paragraphs?
Not with Keep paragraphs, which is selected by default: blank lines between paragraphs stay. Choose Remove all line breaks if you want one single block.
Can I turn a list into comma-separated text?
Yes. Choose Remove all line breaks and set Replace line breaks with to A comma. Each line becomes one item: a, b, c.
Is my text uploaded?
